Humble beginnings, the Newport Community Garden hosts 74 gardeners and 20 community plots. This was our cold weather crop planting early spring.

Simple cedar trellis with food grade plastic mesh
Sometimes when you think the wind isn't an issue, nature reminds you it can't be predicted. 70mph wind shear with heavy rains easily snapped the cedar trellis. Next year is all bamboo.
The trellis broke onto a cushion of 6 feet of tomato plants, which collapsed onto 8 feet of garden bed.
Tools of the trellis rebuilding trade.
Unforuntately lost all the tomatoes on the right when the trellis came down. Everything else miraculously survived!
Some of our garden friends working hard to keep things going.
Helped with the signage so community members knew what they could harvest if they weren't particiapating. Every new community effort needs engagement.
Now in July, the garden looks thick and lush at this point!
